Revert "When building for Ubuntu, skip all binaries except for sysvinit-utils" · e5650f3e
      Ian Jackson authored
      Three reasons:

       * I think it is wrong to query dpkg-vendor in this way. The result
is that if an Ubuntu user tries to build "Debian's version" of
sysvinit, they get the Ubuntu version after all. Also, it seems
         wrong for Ubuntu derivatives, too.

       * This commit is not really suitable for upload to Debian sid at this
stage of the Debian release. (NB this wasn't true when it was
         committed in July.)

       * It contains an undocumented change to the definition of
INSTALL_DATA, to add -D. I think that directories should be
         created explicitly.

      This reverts commit 6ac60934.

Drop transitional sysvinit package · a47afad7
      Michael Biebl authored
It has served its purpose for the wheezy → jessie transition and keeping
it around for longer only leads to confusion as it doesn't setup
/etc/inittab which is necessary to boot with SysV. This functionality
has moved into sysvinit-core, which should be used instead in such a
      case.

bootlogd: mention it won't do anything under systemd · 17a22964
      Andreas Henriksson authored
Update package description as well as the initial log file that's
created under /var/log/boot to indicate that system console messages
      aren't universally available.

Also make the main bootlogd init script writes a message to
/var/log/boot suggesting journalctl instead when starting.
This should avoid outdated and confusing boot logs lingering for
systems upgraded from wheezy or for people switching back and
      forth between init systems.
Note that systemd package will need to drop the mask of bootlogd.service
for this to work. Also note that systemd package might not be carrying
the rcS support patch for much longer which means this script will
not be executed at all under systemd in the future.
