Check that Date of Release file is not in the future
By restricting the Date field to be in the past, an attacker cannot just create a repository from the future that would be accepted as a valid update for a repository. This check can be disabled by Acquire::Check-Date set to false. This will also disable Check-Valid-Until and any future date related checking, if any - the option means: "my computers date cannot be trusted." Modify the tests to allow repositories to be up to 10 hours in the future, so we can keep using hours there to simulate time changes. |

Reformat and sort all includes with clang-format
This makes it easier to see which headers includes what. The changes were done by running git grep -l '#\s*include' \ | grep -E '.(cc|h)$' \ | xargs sed -i -E 's/(^\s*)#(\s*)include/\1#\2 include/' To modify all include lines by adding a space, and then running ./git-clang-format.sh. |

show a Release-Notes URI if infos were changed
This gives the repository owner a chance to explain why this change was needed ā e.g. explaining the organisational changes or simply detailing the changes in the new release made. Note that this URI is also shown if the change is accepted, so it also draws attention to release notes of minor updates (if users watch apt output closely). |

error in update on Release information changes
The value of Origin, Label, Codename and co can be used in user configuration from apts own pinning to unattended upgrades. A repository changing this values can therefore have serious effects on the behaviour of apt and other tools using these values. In a first step we will generate error messages for these changes now explaining the need for explicit confirmation and provide config options and commandline flags to accept them. |

warn if an expected file can't be acquired
If we couldn't find an entry for a Sources file we would generate an error while for a Packages file we would silently skip it due to assuming it is missing because it is empty. We can do better by checking if the repository declares that it supports a component we want to get the file from and if not say so and hint at the user making a typo. An example were this helps is mozilla.debian.net which dropped the firefox-aurora component (as upstream did) meaning no upgrades until the user notices manually that the repository doesn't provide packages anymore. With this commit warnings are raised hopefully causing the user to investigate what is wrong (sooner). |

allow repositories to forbid arch:all for specific index targets
Debian has a Packages file for arch:all already, but the arch:any files
contain arch:all packages as well, so downloading it would be a total
waste of resources. Getting this solved is on the list of things to do,
but it is also the hardest part ā for index targets like Contents the
situation is much easier and less server/client implementations are
involved so we might not want to stall them.
A repository can now declare via:
No-Support-for-Architecture-all: Packages
that even if an arch:all Packages exists, it shouldn't be downloaded, so
that support for Contents files can be added now.

support arch:all data e.g. in separate Packages file
Based on a discussion with Niels Thykier who asked for Contents-all this implements apt trying for all architecture dependent files to get a file for the architecture all, which is treated internally now as an official architecture which is always around (like native). This way arch:all data can be shared instead of duplicated for each architecture requiring the user to download the same information again and again. There is one problem however: In Debian there is already a binary-all/ Packages file, but the binary-any files still include arch:all packages, so that downloading this file now would be a waste of time, bandwidth and diskspace. We therefore need a way to decide if it makes sense to download the all file for Packages in Debian or not. The obvious answer would be a special flag in the Release file indicating this, which would need to default to 'no' and every reasonable repository would override it to 'yes' in a few years time, but the flag would be there "forever". Looking closer at a Release file we see the field "Architectures", which doesn't include 'all' at the moment. With the idea outlined above that 'all' is a "proper" architecture now, we interpret this field as being authoritative in declaring which architectures are supported by this repository. If it says 'all', apt will try to get all, if not it will be skipped. This gives us another interesting feature: If I configure a source to download armel and mips, but it declares it supports only armel apt will now print a notice saying as much. Previously this was a very cryptic failure. If on the other hand the repository supports mips, too, but for some reason doesn't ship mips packages at the moment, this 'missing' file is silently ignored (= that is the same as the repository including an empty file). The Architectures field isn't mandatory through, so if it isn't there, we assume that every architecture is supported by this repository, which skips the arch:all if not listed in the release file. |

remove the longtime deprecated vendor{,list} stuff
History suggests that this comes from an earlier apt-secure implementation, but never really became a thing, totally unused and marked as deprecated for "ages" now. Especially as it did nothing even if it would have been used (libapt itself didn't use it at all). |

implement Signed-By option for sources.list
Limits which key(s) can be used to sign a repository. Not immensely useful from a security perspective all by itself, but if the user has additional measures in place to confine a repository (like pinning) an attacker who gets the key for such a repository is limited to its potential and can't use the key to sign its attacks for an other (maybe less limited) repository⦠(yes, this is as weak as it sounds, but having the capability might come in handy for implementing other stuff later). |

merge indexRecords into metaIndex
indexRecords was used to parse the Release file ā mostly the hashes ā while metaIndex deals with downloading the Release file, storing all indexes coming from this release and ⦠parsing the Release file, but this time mostly for the other fields. That wasn't a problem in metaIndex as this was done in the type specific subclass, but indexRecords while allowing to override the parsing method did expect by default a specific format. APT isn't really supporting different types at the moment, but this is a violation of the abstraction we have everywhere else and, which is the actual reason for this merge: Options e.g. coming from the sources.list come to metaIndex naturally, which needs to wrap them up and bring them into indexRecords, so the acquire system is told about it as they don't get to see the metaIndex, but they don't really belong in indexRecords as this is just for storing data loaded from the Release file⦠the result is a complete mess. I am not saying it is a lot prettier after the merge, but at least adding new options is now slightly easier and there is just one place responsible for parsing the Release file. That can't hurt. |

detect and error out on conflicting Trusted settings
A specific trust state can be enforced via a sources.list option, but it effects all entries handled by the same Release file, not just the entry it was given on so we enforce acknowledgement of this by requiring the same value to be (not) set on all such entries. |

make all d-pointer * const pointers
Doing this disables the implicit copy assignment operator (among others) which would cause hovac if used on the classes as it would just copy the pointer, not the data the d-pointer points to. For most of the classes we don't need a copy assignment operator anyway and in many classes it was broken before as many contain a pointer of some sort. Only for our Cacheset Container interfaces we define an explicit copy assignment operator which could later be implemented to copy the data from one d-pointer to the other if we need it. implement default apt-get file --release-info mode
Selecting targets based on the Release they belong to isn't to unrealistic. In fact, it is assumed to be the most used case so it is made the default especially as this allows to bundle another thing we have to be careful with: Filenames and only showing targets we have acquired. Closes: 752702 |

store Release files data in the Cache
We used to read the Release file for each Packages file and store the data in the PackageFile struct even through potentially many Packages (and Translation-*) files could use the same data. The point of the exercise isn't the duplicated data through. Having the Release files as first-class citizens in the Cache allows us to properly track their state as well as allows us to use the information also for files which aren't in the cache, but where we know to which Release file they belong (Sources are an example for this). This modifies the pkgCache structs, especially the PackagesFile struct which depending on how libapt users access the data in these structs can mean huge breakage or no visible change. As a single data point: aptitude seems to be fine with this. Even if there is breakage it is trivial to fix in a backportable way while avoiding breakage for everyone would be a huge pain for us. Note that not all PackageFile structs have a corresponding ReleaseFile. In particular the dpkg/status file as well as *.deb files have not. As these have only a Archive property need, the Component property takes over this duty and the ReleaseFile remains zero. This is also the reason why it isn't needed nor particularily recommended to change from PackagesFile to ReleaseFile blindly. Sticking with the earlier is usually the better option. |

rename Calculate- to GetIndexTargets and use it as official API
We need a general way to get from a sources.list entry to IndexTargets and with this change we can move from pkgSourceList over the list of metaIndexes it includes to the IndexTargets each metaIndex can have. Git-Dch: Ignore |

better non-virtual metaIndex.LocalFileName() implementation
We can't add a new virtual method without breaking the ABI, but we can freely add new methods, so for older ABIs we just implement this method with a dynamic_cast, so that clients can be more ignorant about the API here and especially don't need to pull a very dirty trick by assuming internal knowledge (like apt-get did here). |

merge Goswin Brederlow "support download of index files for different archs"
patch which includes the following big changes: - Declare the unused [vendor] field in sources.list as option field, e.g. deb [arch=amd64,i386 lang=en_GB have=fun] http://example.org - When fetching index files download them for all APT::Architectures (overrideable with the options field above) - Allow all architectures of APT::Architectures to be in the Cache - Add the architecture to status and progress informations - Add b= (Binary architecture) to policy This commit doesn't incude the "pin-hack" as the Group structure will take care of this (and does it already to some extend). |
