      Set Acquire::https::Verify-Host "false" in unauth-SSL mode · 367e6be5
      Colin Watson authored
      Set Acquire::https::Verify-Host "false" as well as
      Acquire::https::Verify-Peer "false" if
      debian-installer/allow_unauthenticated_ssl=true, to match the behaviour
      of "wget --no-check-certificate" (thanks to Mark Russell for the
      report).

      Pass --no-check-certificate to debootstrap if
      debian-installer/allow_unauthenticated_ssl=true, set https_proxy if
      necessary, and copy any certificates that exist in d-i into the target
      system.

      Installing the various packages is now being taken care of by
      post-base-installer.d hook scripts included in relevant partman udebs.

      Don't install Recommends during base system installation · 53e3722a
      Frans Pop authored
      Analysis has shown that the previous change to install Recommends as set
      in debconf leads to inconsistent results (as debootstrap does not honor
      Recommends) and would require --no-recommends for most system boot related
      packages (udev, initramfs-tools, mdadm, etc.) to ensure consistency between
      installs and to avoid premature installation of e.g. exim4.

      Therefore initially set up APT not to install Recommends and reconfigure it
      at the very end according to the debconf setting.

      Implement option to not install recommended packages by default · f18e213a
      Frans Pop authored
      The default is to install Recommends, but this offers experienced
      users the option of installing a system with APT configured to not
      install recommended packages.

      To activate the option the user can either preseed the template
      'base-installer/install-recommends' to false or set the option at
      the boot prompt using the alias 'recommends=false'.

      Note that using this option can result in an incomplete system and
      additional packages may need to be installed manually to obtain
      expected functionality.
